Frequently Asked Questions

Can I add a via point to my route?

Yes. You can a via or waypoint to the route. Add the postcode or street name of the way point. When generating the route, we take into account all the route destinations, vehicle dimensions, date and time of journey, road requirements (eg. weight limits), and local authority requirements such as the London Lorry Control Scheme.

How often do I have to generate a route for the same vehicle and destination?

To ensure your route continues to be compliant and you are using the most up-to-date routing data, we recommend every time you go out on that journey or at least once a week.

Does Lorry Route take into account road closures?

Yes. We receive temporary road updates from a number of local authorities throughout the UK and this number is growing as our network grows. Road updates include roadworks and major events.

Note: We endeavour to include all road updates but we cannot guarantee all temporary road updates are taken into account as this depends on if we have been provided an update from the local authority and if the update was provided in a timely manner.

Can the route change for the same destination?

Yes. As we are always updating our roads data due to temporary road closures (eg. roadworks, major events), new road updates and new local authority requirements, your route may change. Therefore we recommend you generate routes on a regular basis to ensure you are always compliant and using the most efficient and greenest routes for your journeys.

How is a route generated?

We take into account your vehicle dimensions, route destinations, date and time of journey, road requirements (e.g. weight limits), bridge heights, temporary road closures (eg. roadworks, major events), low emission zones and local authority requirements such as London Lorry Control Scheme.

What is a compliant route?

A compliant route is a route which complies with road traffic requirements such as vehicle weight, bridge heights, tunnel restrictions, schemes like the London Lorry Control Scheme, and local authority requirements for HGVs.
